I find that the ATF agents are not as strict as the Canadian ones when it comes to going through security.

Though one ATF agent I had to deal with in San Francisco was a bitch to me when I asked her a simple question. Anyway in the end result I had to go through a security checkpoint again when San Fran was just a connecting airport for me (i already went through security in San Diego).

I do find security to be different in various airports. I mean sometimes I have to take my belt off.. sometimes I don't. Laptop always went into a seperate bin though i do throw in my blackberry, my other cellphone, my change, wallet into the same bin. They don't seem to care. I usually try not to travel with a belt when i have to hit an airport. I try to keep my loose items to a minimum too.

I did have one agent stop me after I went though the metal detector but he noticed I was wearing a Firefox t-shirt and asked me about Firefox as opposed to IE. I converted him that day to Firefox! mauahaha

Oh and I found the secret for getting through US Customs when entering the US. Say you're going down for business meetings!

Agent: What is your purpose for travel?
Me: Business Meetings
Agent: That's the magic phrase, have a nice trip!
Me: Cool thanks!
