Another Japanese Restaurant
- 3 Comments... What do you have to say?
Well Ashley and I went to another Japanese restaurant this week. This time we went to The Shogun which is in Monroeville for all the people in Pittsburgh who read this blog. We went with my friend Matt and his girlfriend. This place was much bigger than Sapporo and actually had like a little waterfall and pond inside with fish and everything. The Menu was about the same as Sapporo.

I got the Shogun triple which is filet mignon, chicken, and shrimp. Ashley got the lobster, shrimp, and scallops. Each meal comes with soup, salad, and fried rice. Now comparing the food to Sapporo some things were better some things were worse. The soup and salad were a lot better, but I have not found a place that has better rice than Sapporo. Ashley’s scallops were huge and very tasty. The shrimp tasted about the same, but Sapporo’s lobster was much better. The steak and chicken also tasted about the same. One big difference between The Shogun and Sapporo is that at The Shogun the chef’s seemed to do a lot more tricks and tried to put on a show. It was a good meal and I managed to spend just under $100 with tip included.

What dressing did you have for the salad? Their ginger dressing is excellent. I usually get the steak / chicken / shrimp meal for $25. Planning to go sometime over the Holiday.
Oh Bob….that is not Japanese food eeek! I am typing this to you in horror from my seat on the train here in Tokyo. I can’t believe the stuff they pass off as Japanese cuisine in North America. The horror (as yummy as that looks)!
You have to get your butt over here to Japan to sample the real deal……oh the gastronomical delights to be had! Any native Japanese that would happen to venture into such an establishment abroad would be so embarrassed.
But then, I suppose the same could be said for the representation of any country’s cuisine abroad. Eat up! =)
that food looks great. In the UK there are quite a few places like that
