Running Your Own Business is 24/7

Well I’m sure some of you who run your own business have experienced this. The reason I am talking about this is because a lot of people I know say, “Hey man you have it easy”. Well I guess I do for the most part, but those people also have it easy too. After their day at work they can relax and totally forget about work till the next day. For me work is 24/7. After I’m done doing a certain thing with one of my sites there is always something else to do or work on.

Now I do take breaks and nights when I’m done working I try to relax and watch a movie or something, but my mind is always on work. I guess the reason for this is because I always strive to make things better. I am always thinking of ways to improve my sites or what I am going to have to do when I wake up. I’m not sure if this is true for all people that run their own business but it’s kinda that way for me. It’s nice to go on vacation because you finally get the feeling of “nothing to worry about”.

Also when running your own business for the most part you take care of mostly everything. In my case, e-mails, site maintenance, site updates, reviews, etc. People working for normal companies would have one, maybe two of these tasks. And in larger companies they will have an entire department working on one task. I guess running your own business can be stressful at times, but I wouldn’t give it up to go work for someone else!

I agree! Running your own business really is 24/7. I’ve been told so many times “Wow you’re so lucky you don’t have a real job, you have it so easy”… I am lucky I suppose, but it’s not easy at the same time. It is a lot of work like you’ve said.

I very much agree. I have been self-employed for the past 2 weeks now, and I have been busier than I have ever been. The plus side is also that I have made more money than I ever have in the past 2 weeks thanks to being able to devote more time towards my business(es).

Man, you work too hard! When I start to work too hard, I go play games, till I don’t want to work anymore!

I totally agree with this post. Ever since CES I have been totally focused on the site and find myself thinking about it constantly. Just today in class, was I taking notes? Nope, but was making a list of stuff I need to do today for the site. And yes I also get the “wow it must be nice to not have a job”. Even had an old gf say something to the effect of “not all of us can sit in front of a computer and make money like you” lol.
