I'm starting a blog now for the same reason that you originally started your blog (to show the visitors of my websites a little bit of what goes on in my day to day life and what other sites i am working on). Also the latest trend is transparency with businesses, and a blog is the perfect way for a web developer to be transparent with their users. This is probably my 5th time I have tried to start blogging, so wish me luck. Hopefully this time works out because all of the other times I haven't had any sites with a real userbase, but now I have a pretty solid userbase on one of my sites. I think having comments will be a nice motivator to keep posting. nice post. I chose a long time ago that making money on my blog wasn't my top priority, and that entertaining people with things that I found entertaining would be best. However people do want to first know who you are no matter what the blog, and I agree it does as they say put a name with the face, and as I know you and I both hope keeps people coming back!
